Across 110th street – Bobby Womack

Robert Dwayne ‘Bobby’ Womack. Not as famous or well known as some of his peers, he is one of THE great Soul voices of all time. Possibly a name more familiar to later generations as the voice from 2010’s Gorillaz single, ‘Stylo’ or even from his brother’s 1980s hit ‘Teardrops’ (certified BANGER) but to me, he’ll always be ‘the guy that sang Across 110th street’. A song which you may recognise from its use in the opening credits sequence in Quentin Tarantino’s film ‘Jackie Brown’.

This Saturday night sees the fourth annual instalment of ‘The Tarantino Ball’. Melbourne’s biggest & best tribute party to the life & films of Quentin Tarantino. I’ve been honoured to be the in-house DJ for the last 3 years and cannot wait for this weekends party! Hundreds of revellers dressed up in costume as their favourite Tarantino characters, Live band, The Tarantinos with their fast-paced, Rock’n’Roll take on some of the hit songs made famous by the films, dramatic performance pieces along with some breathtaking Burlesque shows too. There are prizes, laughs, drinks and dancing galore-and there’ are still some tickets available!

Enjoy your weekend, Gang. Hopefully, I might see ya at some stage… ๐Ÿ˜‰
